Cheese and Wine Festival Revealed.
Date added: 17th October 2011
Turning up on site Friday Morning at 7.30am you could feel a slight buzz in the air. There is always a mixture between anxiety and excitement when you first arrive at an event which you have never done before, much like turning up for an interview for a job.You don't really know how well you have done or how you have been received until the end when you get your answer and we can proudly say that if this Festival was and interview then we would have got the Directors Job!
Friday was the quietest day for us up until 5pm when the London work force decided their weekend had begun and marched out into the streets armed with cash to start enjoying themselves.
Up until 8pm, when the event was meant to finished, we were inundated with people sampling cider, asking questions, and buying a Friday night tipple. All in all a fine start the weekend.
Saturday arrival was 10am and the morning started off a little slow but chaos was only around the corner. By high noon the market was packed and Ben from the stall next door was making fresh pasta pulling in high numbers of intrigued people that filtered through to us, so by 3pm we had sold out of everything and I mean everything, the public were evening buying our taster bottles to take away and enjoy with some food.
Now we have only been in business for 18 months and are still quite new to the game but never before have we seen people buying taster bottles because they love the produce so much.
With the event finishing at 8pm it was a battle to get more stock to the stall and with London traffic luck was not on our side. Having our depot in High Wycombe is good for costs but not for a quick refill, especially when you have to leave and return to the city centre whilst taking on the mighty forces of the M4, M25 and M40.
Arriving back at 7.30pm we felt the battle was lost though the war was certainly on swaying our way. With a fresh van filled to the brim with cider all we hoped for was another fine day in regards to the weather and people.
Well you can't have everything 100% all of the time but who cares about the weather when people come in their hundreds once again. Sunday was our busiest day and with a 3rd more stock then Saturday, plus extra from our other Sunday market,
Twisted Cider almost sold out on all Ciders again.
We had a brilliant weekend at the Cheese and Wine Festival which was very well organised and a big thank you to Ben and his new Italian business Beliipenos for helping to bring in the crowd with his fresh pasta making.
