Another Year Done.
Date added: 11th October 2011
You know the feeling when you're faced with a mammoth project and the deadline is just around the corner, well that is how we felt last week when we came back to our Farm in Dorset to press 3000 litres of delicious cider the old school way.Over 6 tonnes of apples were pressed by hand in the end and with some rough calculations we worked out that from one press which was made up of 5 cheeses we would get around 77 litres of cider.
This cider was collected into 14 litre buckets and hand poured into the vats, meaning we walked up the step ladder around 214 times.
Now with the task complete and big smiles all round we will wait for one of nature's most natural processes to take place and come March/April next year a drink that is becoming ever more popular will be bottled and ready to serve, just into for the warmer climate.
So it is back to the big smoke tomorrow with a few visits to the farm every month making sure the process is going smoothly.
It has been a joy sharing this experience with you and we hope you have enjoyed reading it.
Regards,
Twisted Cider
